Agri-diplomacy & Geoeconomics

  1. In this backdrop PAKISTAN government’s reorientation towards geo-economics is a leap forward

We welcome and recognize the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ efforts on economic diplomacy, science diplomacy and digital diplomacy. Farmers feel motivated by your unrelenting determination to focus on the need and requirements of Pakistani businesses, local farmers and support Pakistan’s economy through innovative ideas and initiatives.

  2. Pakistan has an untapped potential to exploit markets for naturally grown and organic produce. We have a number of niche market products which can open up doors for volumes in a number of developed markets.

A value addition drive with the engagement of young professional’s linked with farming communities to ensure quality and reliable product for international markets. We can also actively engage women in production and processing of high value niche and commercial agricultural products which can help to uplift rural economy too.

The Ministry of National Food Security & Research (MNFSR) is primarily focused on domestic market with a fire fighting mind-set.

  3. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been diligently pursuing multi-faceted agenda with policies, strategies and action plans to address geopolitical, strategic and geo-economic interests of Pakistan, including through vibrant economic diplomacy.

Being an agrarian country, Pakistan’s major exportable products are moving around agriculture sector which has the capacity to move up and add on to national exchequer and foreign exchange.

We, therefore, propose, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of member countries to launch an “Agri Diplomacy” Initiative as an important part of their renewed focus on geo-economics.
